Rhythms on the River schedule announced
A Tri-City favorite and a Grammy winner are among the performers who will appear this spring at Rhythms on the River.
The free live music series, with performances every Friday, begins April 10 and runs through June 5.
Rhythms on the River performances will take place in downtown Morgan City on Front Street between Everett and Freret streets.
Each week’s live performance will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Don Rich kicks off and ends this year’s “Rhythms on the River” with performances on April 10 and June 5. Rich, a Pierre Part native, has been playing music for over 41 years and enjoys authentic Cajun swamp. Rich will also perform for a second time on June 6.

The second performer of the season will be Jamie Bergeron on April 17, with a lively performance of Cajun-a-Zydeco music along the river. Visit www.kickincajuns.com.
Déjà Vu follows on April 24. This five-piece band calls south Louisiana home and has a diverse musical background.
Déjà Vu will entertain the crowd with Motown, country, disco, rock, Eighties, Nineties and dance music. For more information visit, www.dejavuband.com.
South 70 will take the stage May 1. South 70, a seven-piece band, all born in south Louisiana, will perform May 9. South 70 mixes zydeco, swamp pop, Cajun, country and more.

Toni O and Blue Eyed Soul Revue perform May 8. Toni Otts, of Pierre Part, has a powerful bluesy voice and has been compared to Janis Joplin, Melissa Ethridge, Adele and Stevie Nicks.
On May 15, Will Cooper and Southern Groove take to the Rhythms on the River stage. The four memb2ers hail from Westwego and Houma.
Louisiana Soul Survivors bring a mixture of funk, pop, and rock and soul to the stage May 22. Louisiana Soul Survivors is an eight-member band from the Houma-Thibodaux area.
The eighth performance of the season May 29 is by Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band. The band’s release “Zydeco Junkie” was named Best Zydeco or Cajun Album during the 53rd Grammy Awards in February 2011.
Carrier, a Church Point native, and the Bayou Swamp Band travel worldwide to bring their “swamp funky Zydeco” sound and Louisiana flavor to audiences. For more information on Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band, visit www.chubbycarrier.com.
Rhythms on the River is presented by Morgan City Main Street and sponsored by Café Jo Jo’s, which will be offering food and drink concessions; the St. Mary Parish Chamber of Commerce; and the Cajun Coast Visitors & Convention Bureau.
