Serious injury in Friday crash

PATTERSON — On Friday, a Chevrolet Silverado truck heading west on U.S. 90 hit the rear of a Chevrolet Express van also traveling west on the highway, the Patterson Police Department reported.

The truck’s impact caused the van to go through the median and cross over into the east bound lane. Subsequently, the van was hit by a Kenworth 18-wheeler, which forced the 18-wheeler off the road, causing it to lose its load.

Both the 18-wheeler and van had major damage. The female driving the van was transported to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center. Later, she was transferred to a New Orleans’ hospital with a fractured pelvis and a large cut across the top of her head.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was also transported to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center and later released with minor injuries.
