Police Reports 5-14-14

A Franklin man was arrested Monday while the woman he was accused of kidnapping from Amite County, Miss., was treated for injuries at Franklin Foundation Hospital.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said Joseph Lightfoot Jr., 41, of 506 Ninth St., was arrested at 10:13 a.m. on charges of resisting an officer, resisting an officer by flight, resisting an officer with force, and on a warrant from the Amite County Sheriff’s Office for kidnapping.
Detectives were notified by the Amite County Sheriff’s Office that Lightfoot had kidnapped a female subject earlier that morning. Amite County investigators believed that the victim may have been in danger of being harmed by Lightfoot and that Lightfoot may have been en route with her to his home in Franklin.
A short time later, detectives received information that the victim was being treated at Franklin Foundation Hospital.
Hebert said upon arrival at the medical facility, a detective located the victim’s vehicle that was used by Lightfoot in the kidnapping.
The detective then reportedly saw Lightfoot exiting the hospital and issued several verbal commands ordering Lightfoot to stop. The suspect ignored the commands, got into the vehicle and fled from the parking lot. The detective followed the vehicle onto Chatsworth Road where Lightfoot reportedly stopped the vehicle, got out and fled on foot into an apartment complex.
Other responding deputies and detectives set up a perimeter around the area and two nearby schools were placed on lockdown as a precaution.
Hebert said during the coordinated search effort, the detective found Lightfoot hiding under a bed in one of the apartments. Lightfoot again refused to comply with multiple verbal commands and he was apprehended after a brief struggle.
Lightfoot was transported to the parish jail to await extradition to Mississippi.
In unrelated activity, Hebert reported the following arrests:
Michael Blanchard Sr., 45, of 23 Palmer Lane Centerville, was arrested Tuesday at 6:22 a.m. on a charge of simple arson. Deputies responded to a 911 call of a fire at a residence on Palmer Lane in Centerville. Upon arrival, deputies found the home engulfed in flames. Deputies received information from witnesses at the scene indicating that the fire may have been started on purpose. During the course of the subsequent investigation, the deputy learned that Blanchard allegedly verbally threatened the property owner the previous morning. The case is under investigation by the Louisiana State Fire Marshall’s Office. Bond had not been set as of this morning.
Damarcus D. McNeal, 17, no address given, was arrested Tuesday at 9:40 a.m. on a charge of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling. Bond had not been set as of this morning.
Corey Listi, 51, of 1411 West St. Mary Boulevard, Lafayette, was arrested Tuesday at 12:40 p.m. on a warrant for failure to appear on charges of speeding, operating a vehicle without a driver’s license, vehicle license required. Bond was set at $10,000.
Ameedah Charles-Kenner, 21, of 917 Short Street, Morgan City, was arrested Tuesday at 5:26 p.m. on warrants for probation violation and failure to appear on charges of theft of goods, interfering with a law enforcement investigation and disturbing the peace. Bond had not been set as of this morning.
Breonne L. Bowie, 26, of 421 Lockette Road 2, Sorrell, was arrested Tuesday, at 7:52 p.m. on eight warrants from the Franklin Police Department on charges of two counts of simple criminal damage to property, two counts of stop sign or yield sign violation, six counts of driving under suspension, general speed law violation, resisting an officer by flight, possession of stolen things, no record of vehicle insurance and aggravated obstruction of a highway. Bond had not been set as of this morning.
Duke Guidroz, 28, of Breaux Bridge, was arrested Tuesday at 11:33 p.m. on a warrant for failure to appear on charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, possession of a Schedule I drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, careless operation of a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle without a license. Bond had not been set as of this morning.
T.J. Williams IV, 21, of 114 St. Joseph Lane, Franklin, was arrested today at 2:27 a.m. on a warrant for failure to appear on a charge of criminal neglect of family. Bond is set at $5,775.56.
