Duhé announces candidacy for district attorney

Bo Duhé made it official that he is running for district attorney in the 16th Judicial District this fall, a news release from him stated. The district is comprised of St. Martin, Iberia and St. Mary parishes.
Duhé, 51, is a lifelong resident of New Iberia and has served as an assistant district attorney since 1993.
For the past six years Duhé has served as the first assistant district attorney. In that role, he has been responsible for the administration, personnel and overall operations of the district attorney’s office, in addition to his role in the prosecution of felony crimes.
Duhé also was a law clerk for Honorable Robert Fleming, where he reviewed and summarized legal pleadings submitted to the court.
Before graduating from Tulane University Law School in 1992, Duhé was an assistant vice president for a financial institution.
“My experience in banking and finance has proven to be an asset in my role as first assistant district attorney,” said Duhé. “Working with a budget and staff of professionals over a three parish district requires knowledge of budget process, administration, internal operations and the law. The people and communities of the 16th Judicial District have come to expect a district attorney’s office that is proficient in its operations.”
Duhé is a highly respected prosecutor with a reputation of always being prepared, committed and dedicated to working hard to reach a fair and reasonable decision, the news release stated. All are character traits learned from his parents and mentors along the way, he stated. Duhé also prides himself in being responsive to law enforcement and accessible to victims and their families, he stated.
Duhé and his wife, the former Lisa Claire Trahan, have three children, Sean, Michele and Mac. Duhé is the son of John Malcolm Duhé Jr., who was a local attorney and later became a state and then a federal judge until his retirement. His mother, Dawn Hebert, was an active community leader in New Iberia and is a grant writer. Duhé is a graduate of Catholic High School, New Iberia, receiving his BA degree in business from USL and earned his juris doctorate from Tulane University Law School in 1992.

The qualifying period is Aug. 20, 21 and 22.
Early voting is Oct. 21-28 (except Sunday) from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the Nov. 4 primary election.
Early voting for the Dec. 6 general election is Nov. 22-29 (except Sunday) from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Elections on the St. Mary Parish ballot include U.S. senator, U.S. representative, court of appeal judge, district judges, district attorney, school board member, justice of the peace, constables; Morgan City city court judge, Morgan City city court marshal; Patterson mayor, Patterson chief of police, Patterson council; Berwick mayor, Berwick council; Franklin city court judge, Franklin city court marshal; and Baldwin mayor, Baldwin chief of police and Baldwin aldermen.
