Single vehicle accident

The Franklin and Baldwin Fire departments were dispatched to a vehicle accident at 3321 La. 87 near Carl Oil #2 Road at 9:57 p.m. A pickup truck operated by Philbert Landry, 59, Baldwin, was reportedly traveling west on La. 87 when he left the roadway, into a drainage ditch and flipped the vehicle onto its roof trapping Landry inside. Franklin rescue personnel used the “Jaws of Life” to gain access to victim who was still seat belted in his seat upside down. Fire department rescue personnel and Acadian Ambulance medics were able to remove Landry within 20 minutes and he was transported to Franklin Foundation Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
