Memorial services were held Sunday, August 31, 2014, at 4 p.m., at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin for Gary Anthony Vilcan, 55, a native of Lafayette and longtime resident of Charenton, who passed away Thursday, August 28, 2014, at his home. Bro. Marty Romero and Bro. Blaise Smith officiated the service. A private inurement will be held at a later date.
A gathering of family and friends was held Sunday at Ibert’s Mortuary from 2 p.m. until time of service.
Survivors include three brothers, Andrew Vilcan Jr., Gerald George Ecuer Jr. and his wife, Rachel R. Ecuer, and Ryan Keith Johnson; two sisters, Ethel V. Persilver and Judy V. Bobbitt and her husband, John; one brother-in-law, Henry (Slim) Sedatol; one sister-in-law, Gayle Vilcan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Joy Vilcan Johnson, his adoptive parents (his grandparents, Andrew Vilcan Sr. and Mable Darden Vilcan; brothers and sisters, Billie V. Sedatol, Archie Vilcan Sr., Patricia Vilcan, Dennis Vilcan, Joey LeBlanc and Nikina Ecuer; one sister-in-law, Euna Vilcan; and one brother-in-law, Russell (Cat) Persilver Sr.
