Football, cheerleading sign ups extended

Due to a lack of registration, the Morgan City Recreation Department has extended its sign ups for all of its football leagues and cheerleading until Friday.
The football leagues are youth tackle football and flag football.
Registration is available at the recreation department, 915 Everett St. in Morgan City, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 5 p.m.
Tackle football is for children ages 10 to 12 by Sept. 1 of the current year who meet the following weight requirements.
—Any youth who is 10 years of age must weigh at least 75 pounds with no maximum weight limit.
—Any youth who is 11 or 12 years of age must weigh at least 70 pounds and cannot exceed 135 pounds.
Any youth weighing more than 120 pounds will only be allowed to participate as an offensive or defensive lineman.
The first weigh in will be counted as the child’s official weight, and no re-weighs are allowed.
Entry fee is $50 per child and a birth certificate or copy must be presented at time of registration.
Flag football registration is for children ages are 7 to 10 years old weighing less than 75 pounds by Sept. 1 of the current year. The fee is $40 per child.
Cheerleader registration is for girls ages 7 to 12. The fee is $35 per child.
