RAYMOND J. DELCAMBRE
July 23, 1930 ~ Sept. 11, 2014
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 11, 2014, at 2 p.m., for Raymond Joseph Delcambre, 84. Officiating at the service was Father Garrett Savoie. Burial followed with full Military Honors conducted by VFW Post 1982 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., at Acadian Funeral Home.
Mr. Delcambre was born on July 23, 1930 in Franklin. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired welder, a talented guitar player and enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife of 60 years, Mrs. Shirley Gutierrez Delcambre of New Iberia; his sons, Steve Paul Delcambre and his wife, Lydia, and Troy Delcambre of New Iberia; his sister, Judy Delcambre Proctor and her husband, Leslie, of Charenton; sister-in-law, Sally Gutierrez of New Iberia; seven grandchildren, Billy Delcambre, Dani Archuleta, Steve Paul Delcambre II, D.J. Delcambre, Kimberly Delcambre, Kathryn Bellomy and Sarah Bellomy Medina; eight great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Delcambre was preceded in death by his parents, Tibource “Red” Delcambre and Mary Pontiff Delcambre; his sisters, RoseMary Barrilleaux and her husband, Carroll; and Dorothy “Dot” Burdett and her husband, Tommie.
Pallbearers were Troy Delcambre, Billy Delcambre, Steve Paul Delcambre II, D.J. Delcambre, Matt Barrilleaux, Tybus Burdett and Paul Proctor.
Acadian Funeral Home of New Iberia was in charge of arrangements, 802 Weldon St. 364-6162.
