My name is Greg Roussel and I am seeking re-election to the Berwick Town Council. I am a graduate of Central Catholic High School and Nicholls State University with a bachelor of science degree in accounting. I have been married to Paige Guarisco Roussel for 30 years. We have four children, Alex, 26, Shanna, 17, Cooper, 15, Peytyn, 24, and her husband Jayson Johnson. I have worked for Sewart Supply for the past 32 years and serve as CFO.
My family and I are members of Immanuel Baptist Church where I serve as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and treasurer. I co-chair Upward Basketball, which is an evangelistic sports ministry designed to promote community outreach, develop volunteer leadership, and share the love of Christ with children and their families, using something as simple as a basketball. I am the president of St. Mary Industrial Group (SMIG). I am also serving as treasurer for the Atchafalaya Chapter of the American Petroleum Institute (API), Lakewood Foundation, Oilfield Christian Fellowship of Morgan City, and St. Mary Golf & Country Club. I have been involved with the youth in our community serving as a vice president of St. Mary Central Dixie Youth and coached Dixie Youth, Atchafalaya Flag Football and Biddy Basketball.
I would first like to thank everyone for allowing me to serve as your town councilman for the last 18 months as I filled an unexpired term. I have volunteered and been involved in many civic organizations over the years and now felt it was time to get involved in the town that I was blessed to be a part of. It has been my pleasure to meet and work with the citizens of Berwick. I moved to Berwick 23 years ago to provide an education for my children in the Berwick school system and raise my family in this great small town atmosphere. I am proud of Berwick and want to do my part to continue to make this community a great place to live.
I am a conservative person (not a politician). I believe as a town government we need to provide and take care of the infrastructure of the town; streets, sewage, drainage, parks and recreation facilities. I do not believe we can expect our state and federal elected officials to provide conservative leadership unless we first provide it on the local level. I appreciate all the encouragement and support I have received from citizens of Berwick. Thank you for your consideration and please remember to vote Greg Roussel #117 for Councilman, Town of Berwick on Nov. 4.
