Harvest Moon Festival slated Saturday

The Franklin Merchants Association presents the 15th Annual Harvest Moon Festival.
The festival will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Festivities will take place along Franklin’s Main Street, the Bayou Teche Scenic Byway. There is no admission fee.
The Harvest Moon Festival is a community-based downtown street festival celebrating the sugar cane harvest and the return of fall. Events for this year’s celebration include arts and crafts, live entertainment, Chez Hope Kids Playland, 5K Run/Walk, classic car show, Mutt Strut Costume Contest and Golf Cart Parade.
As part of the festival, Franklin’s downtown retail merchants will provide special sales and promotions to open the Christmas shopping season. Concession booths with local foods and arts and crafts will line the downtown area around the music stage.
Live entertainment, on the stage in the center of Main Street, will include 5 O’clock Shadows from 10:30 a.m. to noon; Old Soul and Mark Robicheaux, Booga Curry, Rick Lorenzo and Chase Landry, 12:30-2 p.m.; Mike Dean, 2:30-4 p.m.; and Crossfyre, 4:30-6 p.m.
Chez Hope Kids Playland will be open to children ages 12 and under and will include fun jumps, rock climbing wall, bungee jump, walk in my shoes parade, games and funnel cakes. For more information contact call Chez Hope at 337-828-4200.
Teche Action Clinic will host its Adeline Guienze Breast Cancer Memorial Fund 5K Run/Walk. The 5K will begin at 8 a.m. on the Courthouse Square. Contact Ed Verdin at 337-828-2550 for an application and more information on the 5K.

The St. Mary Chamber of Commerce will host a Business After Hours in celebration of the Harvest Moon Fest on Thursday at the Teche Theatre of the Performing Arts from 6-8 p.m. Admission is $1 and a business card.
