Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development plans to cut 13 live oak trees along La. 182 near Moresi Road as part of a project to upgrade a portion of the highway. DOTD says the centuries’ old live oaks are too close to the road, creating safety issues. Area residents are in an uproar over the possibility of losing the oaks. Resident Donovan Garcia told media, “”The DOTD does not need to remove these trees. They are taking a cheap way out and they don’t know what they’re talking about. They can save these trees if they want to.” (Submitted photo)
