La. 182 oaks to be saved

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has shelved plans to cut 13 live oak trees along La. 182 near Moresi Road as part of a project to upgrade a portion of the highway. DOTD feared the centuries’ old live oaks are too close to the road and create safety issues. Other measures will now be taken to ensure safety. Some 670 area residents signed a petition asking DOTD to not cut down the trees.
