Girl Scouts to hold Cookies & Cocktails event Feb. 21
NEW ORLEANS — As a festive addition to the Girl Scout cookie season, Girl Scouts Louisiana East has teamed with a dozen or so local chefs for “Cookies & Cocktails,” set for Feb. 21 at Harrah’s New Orleans. The theme for this year’s gala is “A Night in Emerald City” with a patron party at 6:30 p.m. and the gala at 7:30 p.m.
“We’ve asked our chefs to put their own spin on a Girl Scout cookie favorite,” said Stephanie Osborne, event co-chair. “They’ll be creating their own one-of-a-kind appetizer, dessert or cocktail for guests to enjoy.”
As guests sample the chefs’ creations, they will also enjoy cocktails, live music from Groovy 7, and a silent auction. Celebrity judges will crown the Judge’s Choice champion while guests will vote on the People’s Choice.
Emcee is Kenny Lopez, reporter at WGNO’s News with a Twist, and celebrity judges include Q-93’s D.J. Slab, Voice of the Saints Jim Henderson, Deepak Saini of WGNO’s News with a Twist, Tamica Lee of WWL-TV, and the 610 Stompers.
Patron partygoers will be treated to music by Robin Barnes, hors d’oeuvres by sponsor Winn-Dixie, and a signature cocktail from the Carousel Bar & Lounge.
“Set in the enchanting Emerald City of Oz, Cookies & Cocktails is sure to be a magical evening,” said Osborne. “We’re lining up some wonderful auction items, and the music and menu sound divine.”
Chefs include Chef Alan Ehrich, Audubon Tea Room; Kristen Preau, Cook Me Somthin Mister; Café Reconcile; Austin Faucheaux, New Orleans School of Cooking; Erin Swanson; Restaurant Revolution; Shelly Marie Redmond, Skinny Louisiana; Marvin Allen and his Pelican Publishing Pixies, The Carousel Bar & Lounge; Charles, Richard Fiske’s Martin Bar; Danielle Gray, Victory; Krystal Archer, Bayou Beer Garden; Donald Julien, Warehouse Grille; and Celebrity Chef, artist Terrance Osborne.
