M C Bank celebrating 60th anniversary
Sixty years ago, our nation was keeping one eye on escalating tensions in Southeast Asia, and the ’55 Chevy was the car millions of Americans dreamed of owning.
In January of that year, local business leaders across Morgan City opened the doors to a bank that represented their own, mutual dream: a true community bank that would be responsive to the financial needs of area families and business owners who had largely been ignored by bigger city banks in Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
Now, three generations later, M C Bank is set to celebrate its 60th anniversary and, in the process, embrace the principles and legacy of service on which the bank was founded.
M C Bank President and Chief Executive Officer Larry Callais said the celebration will continue throughout the year with monthly grand prizes, including January’s 60-inch flat screen television. Callais said individuals may register to win the monthly prizes at any M C Bank location or on M C Bank’s website (www.mcbt.com), with the January drawing held at noon on Jan. 30.
“It’s truly a time to celebrate the spirit of community banking,” Callais said. “M C Bank has long established the standard for true community banking, and it’s a formula we continue to follow from one generation to the next; a formula based on impeccable and responsive service along with tailored financial solutions, relationship-based banking and fiscal integrity in all we undertake.”
Callais noted that in its role as a community bank, active corporate citizenship was also a trademark of the bank’s service to its communities. Throughout the region, M C Bank and its employees are actively working beyond the walls of the bank to help civic, charitable, economic development and educational endeavors.
“We are pleased to pass this milestone and we look forward to meeting friends old and new during our anniversary celebrations,” Callais said. He also noted that prize registrants need not be a customer of the bank to win.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned at noon Wednesday at the bank’s 1201 Brashear Avenue location to mark the anniversary.
