Mardi Gras on the Bayou, Franklin Art Walk slated

The Sixth Annual Art Walk will be Wednesday, March 4 from 5-8 p.m.
“This would be a great opportunity for budding artists or authors, as well as more established artists and authors,” said Community Development Director Arlana Shields. “The Art Walk will coincide with the 58th Annual Louisiana Juvenile Officers Association Conference, which will give artists and authors a larger audience for their work,”

All entries are due Friday, Feb. 6 at noon.
“Mardi Gras on the Bayou” will take place Tuesday, Feb. 17 along Bayou Teche after the Mardi Gras parade and there will be activities for the children to enjoy.
Children who attend the event will be able to get a temporary tattoo, decorate their own mask, and play on the 40-foot slide.
Vendors are still needed for this event. Nonprofit organizations such as schools, community organizations, churches and fraternal organizations are needed to provide games and food. There is no fee to participate as a vendor for Mardi Gras on the Bayou.
“The end of the school year is right around the corner,” Mayor Raymond Harris said. “Proms, graduation parties and class trips are just a few of the events that schools will host. Becoming a vendor during Mardi Gras on the Bayou is a good way to raise money for the expenses of these events. Additionally, churches and other nonprofit organizations can use this as an opportunity to raise money for their programs, supplies and equipment.”
