Centerville drops 8-B game

CENTERVILLE _ Centerville boys lose to Martin Luther King Charter at home 65-35 to drop to 3-14 overall and 2-1 in District 8-B. MLK improves to 3-0 in 8-B.
MLK grabbed an early 18-11 first quarter lead. The Jaguars secured a 37-19 lead at intermission. MLK went on a 21-5 flurry in the third quarter to extend its lead to 58-24. Centerville enjoyed an 11-7 run in the final period but it was too late as the Jaguars captured the 65-35 league win.
J. Encalade tossed in 26 points while T. Bradford bagged 18 to lead MLK in scoring.
Centerville’s Jaylon Williams pumped in a team-high 16 points.
Other top scorers for CHS included: Cameron Pogue, 8; points; Lance Howard, 3; Marvin Strawder, 2; Rodrick Harris, 2; Desmond Monette, 2 and Jaqualon Bourgeois, 2.
Centerville will be at Maurepas on Friday.
Four Centerville Lady Bulldogs scored in double figures, lifting CHS to a huge 61-27 District 8-B triumph over the Lady Jags of Martin Luther King Charter Tuesday at the CHS Gym.
The Centerville Lady Bulldogs went on a 20-7 spurt in the second quarter for a 27-13 cushion at intermission. In the second half, the Lady Bulldogs enjoyed a 34-14 run for the easy 61-27 victory.
Centerville (6-10, 1-2 in 8-B) was led in scoring by Jasmine Gunner with 13 points along with Nykeyta Kennedy with 12 points while Hailey McDaniel tallied 11 and Kayla Robinson scored 10.
Other top scorers for the Lady Bulldogs were: Kennan Stelly 6; Kenaytra Kennedy, 4; Olivia Thibodeaux, 3 and Nevaeh McDaniel, 2.
