Arrests reports

A brother and sister were charged Wednesday with battery and resisting an officer among other offenses in Amelia during separate incidents, according to St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office authorities.
—Hodges Matthews, 36, of the 100 block of Texas Street in Lafayette, was arrested at 12:16 p.m. Wednesday on charges of simple assault, four counts of resisting an officer and battery of a police officer. Deputies responded to an assault that occurred on Friendship Alley in Amelia, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
Deputies learned that a man, later identified as Matthews, threatened an insurance salesman earlier in the day, Hebert said. As deputies approached Matthews on Friendship Alley, he fled, Hebert said. Matthews was later detained and admitted to threatening the individual, Hebert said. He was jailed with bail set at $50,000.
—Leslie Matthews, 40, of the 100 block of Friendship Alley in Amelia, was arrested at 4:32 p.m. Wednesday for domestic abuse battery, resisting an officer and simple criminal damage to property. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area responded to a report of a disturbance on Friendship Alley, Hebert said. Deputies located the victim, who stated that Matthews struck her in the face during an argument, Hebert said.
While being arrested, Matthews resisted orders by dragging her feet, sitting down and refusing to move multiple times, Hebert said. During the transport to the parish jail, Matthews began to kick the rear window of the patrol vehicle causing the window frame to be bent out of place, Hebert said. No bail is set.
Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Lt. Sennet Wiggins said Hodges Matthews and Leslie Matthews are brother and sister.
Hebert reported responding to 52 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Ricky Bradford, 44, of the 5400 block of North Bayou Black Drive in Gibson, at 2:12 p.m. Wednesday for possession of contraband inside of a penal institution, Hebert said. A corrections officer at the parish jail found an inmate, Bradford, to be in possession of a cell phone in a dormitory. Bradford is being held in the parish jail.
—Kachif Wallace, 26, of the 100 block of Village Lane in Amelia, at 3:31 p.m. Wednesday for a warrant for simple assault. Wallace turned himself into the Sheriff’s Office in Franklin after learning of the active warrant. The warrants stems from an investigation conducted by the sheriff’s office on Jan. 28, Hebert said. During that investigation authorities learned that Wallace threatened to do bodily harm to someone in the Amelia area, Hebert said. A warrants division deputy arrested Wallace and transported him to the parish jail. He was later released on a $250 bond.
—Ora Garner, 62, of the 300 block of Lawrence Street in Morgan City, at 11:07 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on charges of operating a vehicle without a driver’s license and improper lane usage. Garner presented herself to the parish jail for a drug court sanction. A booking deputy discovered the active warrant and arrested Garner, Hebert said. No bail is set.
—Bill Olsen, 54, of the 800 block of Tall Timber Drive in Patterson, at 3:39 a.m. today for disturbing the peace by intoxication. A deputy working the Amelia area responded to a call at a local business. A deputy located Olsen who was to be escorted off the property, Hebert said. Olsen raised his voice multiple times and continued to yell at workers, the sheriff said. Olsen was jailed and later released on a summons to appear in court May 12.
Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Mark Griffin Jr. reported the following arrests:
—Heather N. Harvey, 30, of Trevino Street in Berwick, at 3:55 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for simple assault.
Harvey was located on La. 182 in Morgan City and arrested for simple assault based on a February warrant in which she is accused of threatening another with bodily harm during an altercation, Griffin said. Harvey was released on cash bail.
—Euclide Legnon, 65, of Short Street in Morgan City, at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for issuing worthless checks and a warrant for Terrebonne Parish for theft.
Legnon was located at a Filmore Street residence and placed under arrest by officers on a warrant for Terrebonne Parish authorities for theft. Legnon was also found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for the Morgan City Police Department for issuing worthless checks in the amount of $900, Griffin said. He was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Elton Jones Jr., 24, of Arizona Street in Morgan City, at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for simple criminal damage to property. Jones posted $1,000 bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Shaunta Hurts, 34, of the 1800 block of N Street in Patterson, at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday for unauthorized use of an access card and possession of stolen things. Hurts was released on $2,000 bail.
