Area high school bowling teams were in action Feb. 9 and 11 in Morgan City and Houma.
On Feb. 9, Morgan City defeated Berwick 23-4 in girls’ action at Charlie’s Lanes in Morgan City.
Top games bowled for Morgan City included Hannah Pipes (159, 167), Meghan Amador (139, 173), Cayce Keton (171), Rylee Sartwell (170); Ali Tregle (158), Alyssa Rich (138) and Laura Nolazco (130).
For Berwick, Josie Estay had a 476 series that included games of 172 and 170, while Mickenzie Reed bowled a 441 series that included games of 167 and 159.
In boys’ action Feb. 9, Berwick defeated Morgan City 23-4 at Charlie’s Lanes.
Quentin Kelly led Berwick with a 593 series (171, 202, 220), while other Berwick bowlers recording 500-plus series included Abram Gilder, Aaron Barrilleaux and Mark Lemoine. Gilder had a 578 series (212, 178, 188), while Barrilleaux bowled a 531 series (203, 168, 160). Mark Lemoine turned in a 511 series, including games of 153 and 212.
Other top Berwick bowlers included Christopher Beltran (178, 169) and Brandon Lemoine (166, 153).
Jayson Hidalgo led Morgan City with a 505 series (169, 174, 162).
Other top performances turned in by Morgan City included Jonathan Spinella (174, 151, 154), Gage Hirshmann (168) and Antoine Bui (151).
On Feb. 11, Central Catholic and Houma Christian played to a rare tie in boys bowling action as both teams finished with 13.5 points.
Top bowlers for Central Catholic included Luis Bochas (171), Kyle Autin (162, 177), Nick Governale (157, 151), Josh Abney (171) and Dave Laubach (167).
In girls’ bowling action Feb. 11, Berwick fell to Vandebilt Catholic, 20-5-6.5, at Charlie’s Lanes.
Top bowlers for Berwick included Mickenzie Reed, who bowled a 465 series, including games of 178 and 159.
Shannon Derise also recorded a 136 to lead the Berwick squad.
In boys’ action Feb. 11 at Charlie’s Lanes, Berwick fell to Vandebilt Catholic, 17-10.
In the loss, Berwick had four bowlers record 500-plus series led by Quentin Kelly’s 560. He bowled games of 185, 163 and 212.
Other 500-plus bowlers included Mark Lemeoine, a 525 series (169, 162, 194); Aaron Barrilleaux, a 512 series (214, 170); and Blake Bergeron, a 505 series (159, 201).
Abram Gilder turned in top games of 153 and 235 and Brandon Lemoine, scores of 185 and 171.
On Feb. 11, Morgan City’s girls defeated Terrebonne, 22-5, at Creole Lanes in Houma.
Morgan City was led by Hannah Pipes’ 555 series (186, 175, 194), while Cayce Keton also turned in a 499 series (154, 187, 158).
Other top scores turned in by Morgan City included Meghan Amador (159, 158), Alyssa Rich (161), Marissa Davis (149), Ali Tregle (140) and Rylee Sartwell (136).
In boys’ action Feb. 11, Morgan City fell to Terrebonne 25-2 at Creole Lanes.
Top scores turned in by Morgan City included Jason Myers (170, 170), Antoine Bui (175, 158), Hau Vo (158, 170), Joey Jeter (157, 153), Jayson Hidalgo (176) and Zachary Stewart (164).
While bowling teams were not in action the week of Feb. 16-20, they returned to the lanes Monday when Central Catholic took on Berwick in boys’ and girls’ action at Charlie’s Lanes.
On Wednesday, Berwick will meet Morgan City at Charlie’s Lanes in boys’ and girls’ action, while Central Catholic will meet Terrebonne in boys’ and girls’ action at Creole Lanes.
