Ida Mae Barrilleaux Johnson, 85, died peacefully with her family by her side, at Morgan City Health Care Center on Feb. 28, 2015, twenty-one years to the day that her beloved mother joined Jesus.
Ida was born on Jan. 19, 1930, in Morgan City, the oldest child of Delmar Felix Barrilleaux and Violet Virginia Morgan Barrilleaux.
She was a kind and gentle-spirited woman with a strong faith and love for the Lord. She dedicated and sacrificed her life for her children, surrounding her world around them with unconditional love. Her happiest place was surrounded by her grandchildren and family. She loved telling stories of her childhood and reminiscing of times gone by.
Ida loved spending time with family and friends, visiting over a cup of Community Coffee, and no meal compared to her chicken stew and potato salad for Sunday dinner.
Flower arranging was her passion, describing colorful flowers as one of the most beautiful things she had ever seen. She was a graceful dancer and enjoyed dancing, especially the Jitterbug and the Waltz. Traveling was another pastime, making many trips to Tennessee over the years.
Her legacy is one of unwavering faith and unconditional love.
