Amelia teen charged with assault

A 14-year-old boy was charged with aggravated assault Monday after he was accused of threatening a family member with a pocketknife, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—A juvenile male, 14, of Amelia, was arrested at 3:56 p.m. Monday on the charge of aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area responded to a call of a disturbance at a residence.
During the investigation, the deputy learned that a 14-year-old juvenile male threatened a family member with a pocketknife, Hebert said. The juvenile was arrested and transported to the Assumption Parish Juvenile Complex pending juvenile court proceedings.
Hebert reported responding to 30 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Crystal Duhon, 42, of the 200 block of Ricohoc Drive in Ricohoc, at 4:59 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of theft under $500. A deputy assigned to the warrants division located Duhon at her residence. Duhon was arrested and transported to the parish jail. No bail is set.
—Heather Lacoste, 31, of the 200 block of Canal Street in Heflin, at 10:57 p.m. Saturday on the charges of driving while intoxicated, careless operation and no driver’s license. A deputy working in the Patterson area observed a vehicle swerve in and out of lanes of travel on U.S. 90. The deputy initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Lacoste, and detected an odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from her person. During the investigation, Lacoste submitted to a chemical test for intoxication and provided a breath sample of .161 grams-percent blood alcohol concentration, Hebert said. Lacoste was jailed with no bail set.
Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Mark Griffin Jr. reported the following arrests:
—Jereith J. Callery, 27, of Franklin, at 3:30 p.m. Monday on a warrant on the charge of failure to pay a fine.
Callery was located at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center and transported to the Morgan City Jail. He was released after posting cash bail.
—Gage Ford, 23, of Sixth Street in Morgan City, at 7:22 p.m. Monday on the charge of possession of marijuana.
—Destiny Dinger, 26, of Tiffany Street in Patterson, at 7:22 p.m. Monday on a Patterson Police Department on the charge of expired license plate, a St. Mary Parish warrant on the charge of cultivation of marijuana and illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile.
Morgan City Police Detectives, acting on an anonymous complaint of suspected drug activity, responded to a residence in the 2600 block of Sixth Street, Griffin said. While there, they located the occupants inside the residence.
Officers located Dinger hiding in the closet of the residence, Griffin said. Dinger was wanted on outstanding warrants for various agencies. Investigators also located a cellophane bag of suspected marijuana, which was seized. A resident, Ford admitted to possession of the substance, Griffin said. Both were jailed.
—Javon E. Johnson, 21, of Third Street in Morgan City, at 11:15 p.m. Monday on the charge of possession of Schedule I marijuana.
Patrolling officers observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner near Brashear Avenue and Seventh Street and stopped the vehicle to investigate, Griffin said. During the stop, officers detected an odor of marijuana inside the vehicle. During the investigation, officers recovered a cellophane bag containing suspected marijuana in the rear of the vehicle with the rear passenger, Johnson. Johnson was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—George Favors Jr., 47, of the 1600 block of Cherry Street in Patterson, at 12:30 a.m. today on the charges of remaining where forbidden and possession of crack cocaine. No bail is set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
