HMS wins over Delcambre
DELCAMBRE _ Hanson improved to 9-0 on the season following Tuesday’s 8-4 victory over the Delcambre Panthers here at the DHS Baseball Field.
John Guienze (4-0) earned the mound victory after tossing a complete game, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits with six strikeouts and two walks.
Delcambre’s Austen Thibodaux suffered the loss after giving up six runs (one earned) on four this with seven strikeouts and one walk over four and two-thirds innings.
Hanson capitalized on timely hitting around five Delcambre errors and great pitching by John Guinze with a pair of double plays in both the first and third innings behind him.
Hanson opened the game with a 2-0 advantage with Bo Barrilleaux and Cameron Stovall tagging home plate. Barrilleaux scored on Guienze’s RBI while Stovall scored on an error.
Hanson moved to 4-0 in the top half of the fourth frame when Luke Lancon and Josh Sanchez touched home plate.
In the fifth frame, Hanson’s Josh Sanchez ripped a bases-clearing triple, sending the Tigers ahead by an 8-0 advantage. Britt Young opened the scoring in the fifth by scoring on Luke Lancon’s RBI. Hanson’s Jacob Hebert, Luke Lancon and Spencer Bishop scored on Sanchez’s two-out triple, giving the Tigers an 8-0 advantage.
Delcambre rallied for two runs in the final two innings but the HMS Tigers strolled away with the 8-2 triumph.
Top hitters for the Tigers were: Luke Lancon, 3 for 4, 2 runs, RBI; Bo Barrilleaux, 1 for 3, run; Cameron Stovall, 1 for 3, run; John Guienze, 1 for 3; Brandon Bonin, 1 for 3, RBI and Josh Sanchez, 1 for 4, triple, run, 3 RBI.
On the night, HMS tallied eight runs on eight hits with two errors while Delcambre managed two runs on four hits with five errors.
