Centerville posts tournament win
CADE _ Logan Broussard surrendered one earned run, leading the Centerville Bulldogs to a 14-4 victory over the Episcopal School of Acadiana Falcons Thursday in the opening round of the Doyle Baseball Tournament at the ESA Baseball Field.
Centerville (2-3) posted its second consecutive win of the season.
Broussard earned the mound victory after hurling five innings, allowing four runs (one earned) on three hits with five strikeouts and five walks.
Leading hitters for Centerville were: Gage Burgess, 3 for 4, RBI; Christian Arias, 2 for 2, 2 RBI; Logan Broussard, 2 for 4, RBI; Matt LeBourgeois, 1 for 1, 2 RBI and Caleb LeBlanc, 1 for 3, RBI.
Centerville struck for seven runs in the top half of the third inning, building a 9-4 cushion. CHS added three runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth on the way to the 14-4 victory over ESA.
Centerville will continue play in the Doyle Tournament with a pair games scheduled on Saturday at French Settlement against French Settlement at 10 a.m. and Mount Hermon at noon.
