HMS Tigers ease past Morgan City

Jacob Hebert went the distance, hurling the Hanson Memorial Tigers to an 8-2 victory over the Morgan City Tigers Wednesday at the Amar Lancon Field.
Hanson improved to 17-2 on the season with the win over the Morgan City Tigers.
Hanson power hitters Luke Lancon, Bo Barrilleaux and Cameron Stovall clubbed nine of the Tigers’ 11 hits on the day.
Hebert outdueled Morgan City pitchers Ethan Scioneaux and Colby Glutter for the mound victory.
Hebert (3-0) went seven innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Scioneaux took the loss after working four complete innings, giving up seven runs (four earned) on nine hits with five strikeouts and one walk. Glutter hurled two complete innings, surrendering one run on two hits with no strikeouts and no walks.
Hebert faced 30 batters while tossing 102 pitches with 71 strikes and 31 balls. Hebert (3-0) yielded one earned run on six hits while fanning four and walking one.
Morgan City’s Scioneaux pitched to 23 batters for a total of 75 pitches with 49 strikes and 26 balls. Glutter faced seven batters, tossing 13 pitches with 11 strikes and two balls.
Stovall continued his hot streak with his third homer in as many games. Stovall went 2 for 4 with a homer and a double with two runs and two RBI.
Stovall smacked his round-tripper on a 1-0 offering from Scioneaux to deep left centerfield, giving the Tigers a 6-2 lead in the fifth frame.
Luke Lancon was 3 for 4 with a double and pair of singles with two RBI and 2 runs.
Barrilleaux went 2 for 3 on a pair of singles with one RBI.
Hanson’s Chase Mensman laced a triple while going 2 for 3 with one run and one RBI.
Britt Young was 1 for 3 with one run and one RBI while Luke Rodriguez also went 1 for 3 with a run.
Morgan City gained a 2-0 lead in the first inning before Hanson stormed back to knot the game at 2-2 in the bottom half of the first inning. The Hanson Tigers manufactured two more runs in the bottom of the second inning for a 4-2 lead and they never looked back. Hanson tacked on one run in the third inning, two more in the fifth and one insurance run in the sixth frame en route to the 8-2 victory.
Hanson (17-2, 5-0) will play host to Ascension Episcopal School on Saturday at 4 p.m. in District 7-1A.
