HMS edges past AES

The Hanson Memorial Tigers improved to 18-2 overall and 7-0 in District 7-1A Saturday with a 5-2 win over the Ascension Episcopal Gators here at the Amar Lancon Field.
Hanson’s Evan Thibodeaux (5-1) earned the mound win for the Tigers, going 3.67 innings. Thibodeaux faced 18 batters, throwing 84 pitches, including 45 strikes and 39 balls. He allowed one earned run on three hits with six strikeouts and four walks. Josh Sanchez picked up the save after hurling 3.33 frames, surrendering no runs on one hit with two strikeouts and one walk. Sanchez pitched to 13 batters for a total of 48 pitches with 28 strikes and 20 balls.
Brandon Dacote and Sean Brady saw mound action for AES. Dacote took the loss, giving up five runs on four hits with two strikeouts and four walks in 3.33 innings. Brady allowed one hit and two free passes with a pair of strikeouts in 2.67 frames.
Top hitters for HMS were: Luke Lancon, 2 for 3, RBI; Britt Young, 3-RBI double; Chase Mensman, double, run; Luke Rodriguez, single along with Bo Barrilleaux, Cameron Stovall and Clint Young each scoring runs.
HMS (18-2, 7-0) is scheduled to play at Lafayette Christian tonight if weather permits.
