More storms expected here

Menacing clouds and heavy thunderstorms, including a tornado watch, moved back into the region today, after a storm Saturday caused portions of the Tri-City area to lose power, according to area officials.
Forecasters expect more severe weather to develop overnight.
Since Saturday, parts of Morgan City registered anywhere from 1 inch to 1½ inches of rainfall, National Weather Service Meteorologist Jonathan Brazzell said. Areas east of Morgan City saw ½ -inch or less, Brazzell said. The Patterson area had ¾-inch to 1 inch of rain, he said.
The Franklin area saw about 1½ inches of rainfall, Brazzell said. The National Weather Service didn’t receive any reports of damage from the storm on Saturday.
The severe weather that the Tri-City area experienced this morning was supposed to finish before noon today, he said. This afternoon and this evening, storms were scheduled to redevelop “way to the west,” he said.
More severe weather will likely move back into the Morgan City area overnight, Brazzell said. The stormy weather should clear out during the day Tuesday, he said.
Around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Morgan City lost power through its “uptown feeder,” Morgan City Utilities Director Bill Cefalu said. That feeder goes from Ditch to Railroad avenues, then from Railroad Avenue to Front Street, from Front Street to Brashear Avenue, and all the way back to the traffic light at Ditch Avenue and La. 182.
That section of the city was without power for 30 to 45 minutes, Cefalu said. The wind blew hard enough to cause a couple of power wires to touch, which kicked the circuit breaker off, he said.
Also Saturday, a tree fell on Cherry Street in Morgan City and caused an isolated power outage affecting just that area, Cefalu said.
Cleco Spokeswoman Robbyn Cooper said the Berwick and Patterson areas also experienced power outages around 12:30 p.m. Saturday because of a broken power pole in Patterson and weather-related problems at two substations.
The outages affected 1,180 customers in the area, she said.
