During the week of April 21-27, Holy Cross Elementary School students studied a wetlands-based curriculum through the LSU AgCenter’s 4-H youth development program grant. Funded by the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority of Louisiana, the grant allows teachers across the state to receive wetlands-based lessons free of charge. In third grade, above, students are studying “Crawfish 101.” Teacher Maggie Bagwell holds a crawfish for students Madison Simmons, Ashley Tabor, Ian Carmichael, Evan Picou and Braden Bailey to observe.
