Three HMS grads lead Class of 2015

Three top graduates of the Hanson Memorial High School Class of 2015 will lead commencement exercises Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Church of the Assumption.
The three top achievers in academics include Caitlin Elizabeth St. Blanc as valedictorian, and Kalyn Elizabeth Adams and Jerome Trosclair Jr. as salutatorians.
Caitlin St. Blanc, the daughter of Vincent and Tabitha St. Blanc, is completing her high school education with a 4.0 grade point average earning her Distinguished Honor Graduate status. She will be attending the University of Louisiana at Monroe in the fall to major in nursing. She is the recipient of a $26,000 UL-Monroe scholarship as well as the state TOPS scholarship. Her academic awards and school activities include National Honor Society, Student of the Year, Torch of Knowledge Award, Literary Rally participant for four years, ULM Honor’s Program, President’s Volunteer for Service Award, track and field, Hugh O’Brien Leadership Camp, Trailblazer Camp and Quiz Bowl.
Kalyn Elizabeth Adams, the daughter of Mark Adams and Kay and Jerry Frost, is completing her high school education with a 3.966 grade point average earning her Distinguished Honor Graduate status. She will be attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the fall to major in speech. She has a $4,000 scholarship from ULL as well as $21,000 from UL-Monroe, $12,000 from Louisiana Tech, and $19,662 from the TOPS scholarship. Her academic awards and school activities include National Honor Society president, class officer all four years, Torch of Knowledge Award and academic letter, cheerleading and Pro-Life member. She also received medals in geometry, algebra II, biology and English III.
Jerry Jerome Trosclair Jr., the son of Jerry and Mary Ann Trosclair, has completed his high school career with a 3.966 grade point average earning Distinguished Honor Graduate status. He will be attending Nicholls State University in the fall to major in computer information systems. He has received scholarships from Nicholls State in the amount of $35,568; ULL, $15,760; ULM, $45,777; LSU, $8,000; and TOPS, $19,689. His academic awards and school activities include academic letter, three years; 4 year Torch of Knowledge Award, four years; Literary Rally participant, four years; District Literary Rally winner, three years; and State Rally winner, two years. He’s also competed in Quiz Bowl and football and served as football manager and baseball announcer.
