Man accused of stealing refrigerator

A 38-year-old Morgan City man was charged Wednesday on a warrant accusing him of stealing a refrigerator, Morgan City Police Chief Capt. James Blair said in news release.
—Desmon H. Cousin, 38, of Morgan City, was arrested at 11:08 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging him with felony theft ($1,191.30).
Officers were dispatched to a residence in the Brownell Homes area in regards to a disturbance. During the investigation, Cousin was found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest, Blair said.
The warrant stems from an April 28 complaint, in which a stove and refrigerator was taken from a residence, Blair said. Cousin was jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Marcus D. Battle, 40, of Hickory Street in Morgan City, at 4:01 a.m. Wednesday on the charge of illegal lighting on vehicle, no driver’s license and possession of alcoholic beverage in motor vehicle.
Officers were dispatched to the area of La. 182 near Florence Street in regards to a reckless driver. Police located the suspect vehicle and the driver, Battle.
Also, the officer noticed an open container of alcoholic beverage inside of Battle’s vehicle. Battle was jailed.
—Davonte Williams, 23, of Bowman Street in Morgan City, at 8:05 a.m. Wednesday on the charges of speeding 26 mph in a 15 mph school zone and driving under suspension.
An officer in the area of Federal Avenue and Wise Street noticed a vehicle speeding. The driver, Williams, was jailed and later released on bail.
—Fernando Aguilar-Contreras, 29, of Houma, at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday on the charge of unlawful possession of fraudulent documents for identification purposes.
The officer spoke to an employee with the Office of Motor Vehicle and was told Aguilar-Contreras was trying to obtain a Louisiana ID card under the name and Social Security number of someone who has already been issued a Louisiana ID.
He was jailed.
—Randy G. Clark, 28, of Friendship Alley in Amelia, at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday on warrants charging him with criminal conspiracy to commit forgery and criminal conspiracy to commit theft.
Clark was located at the Morgan City Police Department and jailed. The warrants stem from an April 18 incident in which a stolen check was cashed at a check cashing business, Blair said.
—Hai Huynh, 58, of Houston at 12:31 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of no driver’s license and failure to yield with an accident.
An officer was dispatched to the area of Federal Avenue and Greenwood Street in regards to a vehicle accident.
The officer made contact with Huynh who stated that he did not yield to traffic on Federal Avenue, causing his vehicle to crash into an approaching vehicle, Blair said. Huynh was jailed.
—Blake M. Dinger, 22, of Neptune Street in Morgan City, at 3:10 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging him with theft ($23.72).
Dinger was jailed and later released on bail.
—Carolyn Dillon, 43, of Belanger Street in Morgan City, at 4 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Belanger Street. Officers spoke to a witness who stated Dillon had been smoking illegal narcotics and was in the back yard, Blair said.
Officers located Dillon in the back yard, but did not notice any illegal narcotics, the chief said.
Officers noticed a pipe commonly used to smoke illegal narcotics in Dillon’s possession, Blair said. Dillon was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 39 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Janice Hue, 36, of the 100 block of Burchfield Lane in Berwick, at 2:41 p.m. Wednesday on two warrants for issuing worthless checks. A deputy located Hue at a business on Main Street in Franklin. Hue was released on a summons to appear in court Aug. 19.
—Christopher Pollard, 30, of the 1400 block of South Road in Bayou Vista, at 7:01 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of theft. A deputy located Pollard at his residence on the warrant. No bail is set.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Donald Bennett Jr., 26, of the 1200 block of Second Street in Patterson, at 1:33 a.m. today on the charges of aggravated assault and simple battery. No bail is set yet.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
