Harvest Moon Fest, arts program, more on tap

Events and opportunities are upcoming in the City of Franklin.
The 2015 Harvest Moon Festival is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The next planning meeting will be held at City Hall June 23 at 6 p.m. Anyone who would like to help with the festival is invited to attend.

Also, the schedule for four of the Bayou Beaux arts classes has changed since the registration period ended.
The beginner drawing class will be June 1-3 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at City Hall and will be taught by Jeanne Wattigny. The intermediate drawing class will be taught by Jon Eenigenberg on June 9-11, 5-8 p.m. at City Hall.
The beginner encaustics class will be taught by Catherine Siracusa July 7-9 from 3-6 p.m. at the Franklin Recreation Center. Siracusa will also teach the intermediate encaustics class from 3-6 p.m. at the Franklin Recreation Center July 14-16.
The Bayou Beaux Arts and Dance Program is supported by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council as administered by the Acadiana Center for the Arts and by a Community Partnership Grant from the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and Foundation.
Lastly, organizations which are hosting events that are open to the public are able to have their posters placed inside for one week of advertising. Organizations are allowed to use two of the four cases. Posters must be 34 inches by 28 inches, laminated, neat and attractive.
Posters that do not meet those criteria will not be displayed. It is recommended that an organization representative visit the Office of Community Development to see examples of quality posters that have been placed in the cases on Main Street before posters are printed.
Usage is allowed on a first-come-first-served basis. All organizations must bring their posters to the Office of Community Development for approval.
