Sheriff searching for armed robbery suspect

Authorities are seeking the public’s help to find an armed robbery suspect accused of robbing a woman at gunpoint Saturday in Bayou Vista, according to a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office news release.
Just before 5:30 a.m. Saturday, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office received a report of an armed robbery that occurred at a residence in the 1400 block of South Road in Bayou Vista.
During the investigation, deputies learned that a female victim was exiting the residence when a male suspect pushed the door and entered, the news release said.
The suspect produced a handgun and demanded money from the victim. The suspect stole a black purse containing the victim’s identification information and just over $100 in cash, the release stated.
The suspect is described as a heavy set dark skinned male wearing dark colored clothing — a hooded shirt, shorts, and head covering, possibly a ski mask, the release said.
Another subject, also described as a dark-skinned male was seen in the area with the suspect, the release stated.
