Woman accused of possession of Xanax

A 26-year-old Bayou Vista woman was arrested Wednesday after a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a welfare concern at a home and found Xanax pills and two children inside the residence, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Lacey Martin, 26, of the 300 block of David Drive in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:16 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of Schedule IV Xanax and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of minors.
A deputy responded to a complaint of a welfare concern. The complainant was concerned that Martin was intoxicated in the home with small children in the residence, Hebert said. The deputy made contact with Martin and observed her swaying where she stood and slurring words as she talked.
During the investigation, the deputy located several Xanax pills belonging to Martin who did not have a prescription for the drugs, Hebert said.
The deputy also observed two small children in the home at the time of the investigation, the sheriff said. Martin was jailed with no bail set.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 47 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Mong Duval, 29, of the 100 block of Friendship Alley in Amelia, was arrested at 8:57 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of theft of goods.
A deputy made contact with Duval at her residence and learned of the active warrant for her arrest. Duval was jailed with bail set at $750.
—Donald C. Burgo, 48, of the 700 block of Degravelle Road in Amelia, was arrested at 12:12 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for violating conditions of parole. A deputy located Burgo at his residence on the warrant. Burgo was jailed with no bail set.
—Kevin P. Mitchell Jr., 24, of the 1400 block of La. 662 in Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 2:43 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of simple criminal damage to property.
A deputy transported Mitchell from the Terrebonne Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrant. Bail is set at $500.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Juan Tapia, 24, of Morgan City, was arrested at 4:58 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of appearing in public intoxicated and hit and run.
Officers were dispatched to a parking lot of a local business on La. 70 in regard to someone asleep in a vehicle. Officers made contact with the person, Tapia, who appeared intoxicated, Blair said.
Tapia was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking.
While at the department, officers found evidence to link Tapia’s vehicle to damaging a gas meter in the area where he was located, Blair said.
Tapia was additionally charged with hit and run. Tapia was booked and incarcerated.
—Terry L. Ratcliff, 45, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:34 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of theft of goods-value $117.39.
Officers were dispatched to a local supermarket on La. 182 in regard to a theft.
When officers arrived, an employee stated that he witnessed a suspect conceal several packs of ribeye steaks in her purse and left out of the store without paying for the items, Blair said.
The employee detained the subject, identified as Ratcliff, until officers’ arrival, Blair said. The value of the items totaled $117.39. Ratcliff was jailed.
—Jessica M. Williams, 27, of Mallard Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:03 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of no insurance, driving under suspension, misuse of temporary tag, failure to change registration and on a Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for drug court.
A patrol officer in the area of Fifth Street and Railroad Avenue observed a vehicle without a license plate visible. The officer stopped the vehicle to investigate.
The driver, Williams, was determined to have a suspended driver’s license and suspended temporary license plate tag, Blair said. Williams was jailed.
—Peter V. Lund, 34, of Chatsworth Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 5 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging him with failure to pay a fine.
Lund turned himself in to the Morgan City Police Department for an active warrant he held for the Sixth Ward City Court. Lund was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
