School orientations start next week
Orientation sessions for several Tri-City area schools begin next week.
Morgan City Junior High School will host orientation Monday for seventh- and eighth-graders at 8 a.m. and sixth-grade at 10:30 a.m. Lockers will be assigned; $9 school fees can be paid; and students and parents will meet teachers and learn about plans for the coming year.
Parents are strongly encouraged to attend.
School sweatshirts and T-shirts will be offered for sale.
Additionally, parents who expect their child to attend Morgan City Junior High in the fall, but are not coming from Morgan City Junior High feeder schools of J.S. Aucoin, J.B. Maitland, M.E. Norman, M.D. Shannon or Wyandotte elementary schools are encouraged to register their child prior to the first day of school.
Berwick High School will hold orientation Tuesday and July 29.
On Tuesday, orientation will be held for seniors from 9 to 11 a.m., juniors from noon to 2 p.m. On July 29, orientation will be held for sophomores from 9 to 11 a.m. and freshmen at noon. Freshmen parents are encouraged to attend the orientation opening meeting.
All classes are reminded that $10 Berwick High class fees are due at that time. Parking fees are $10 with a valid driver’s license. Student ID photos will be taken.
Morgan City High School will hold orientation July 30 and July 31. Students will receive locker combinations, identification cards, and a tentative schedule.
On July 30, orientation will be held for seniors at 8:15 a.m., juniors at 9:30 a.m. and sophomores at 10:45 a.m.
On July 31, freshmen and all incoming new students will have orientation during Freshman Day from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Freshman Day will include a welcome session from administrators, school tour, identification pictures, locker combinations, and organizational information provided. Parents are encouraged to attend for the opening of the freshman session.
Dress code for this day is school appropriate casual attire.
The St. Mary Parish School Board has allocated funding to cover the annual $17.50 school fee for the locker, ID card, and planner and the $5 science fee at Morgan City High School.
Parking permits will be sold for $5 to students that are able to show a valid driver’s license. Morgan City High open house is scheduled Aug. 13 at 6 p.m.
