2 jailed; drugs, guns, kids found in home

A Morgan City man and woman were arrested Wednesday after police found marijuana, crack cocaine, a revolver and two young children inside an apartment, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Laquisha D. Young, 21, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:28 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of Schedule I marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Joshua P. Roshell, 21, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:28 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of Schedule II crack cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, violation of controlled dangerous substance law and possession of a controlled substance in the presence of persons under 17 years old.
The Morgan City Police Department received a complaint of illegal narcotics being sold out of an apartment located on La. 182. Officers made contact with Young and Roshell at the apartment. Two children, ages 10 months and 1-year-old, were also in the residence.
Officers got consent to search the home and located suspected marijuana, several pieces suspected crack cocaine and a .38-caliber revolver. Young and Roshell were jailed with no bail set. The children were released to a guardian.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Tenisha T. Francois, 35, of Murial Street in Morgan City, at 12:44 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging her with contempt of court.
Francois was transported from the Berwick Police Department to the Morgan City Police Department for an outstanding warrant she held for the Sixth Ward City Court. Francois was jailed.
—Ernesto C. Moctezuma, 37, of Spruce Street in Morgan City, at 5:28 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of careless operation, no driver’s license and hit and run.
A patrol officer was flagged down in the area of La. 70 in regards to a hit and run vehicle crash. The victim told the officer that his vehicle was struck from behind. After the crash, the other vehicle continued on in an unknown direction. Police eventually located the vehicle on Spruce Street. Officers made contact with Moctezuma who admitted to driving the vehicle and not stopping after the crash. Moctezuma was jailed.
—Kendrick M. Jones, 23, of Diane Drive in Morgan City at 10:58 p.m. Wednesday on a Hardin County, Texas, warrant for failure to appear.
Officers were dispatched to a local business on La. 182 in regards to a reckless driver in the parking lot. Officers made contact with the driver, Jones, who was determined to have an active warrant for the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office. Jones was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 39 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Renaldo Toussaint, 38, of the 200 block of Baptiste Street in Baldwin, at 8:46 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of Schedule I drugs and resisting an officer, and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family.
—Jernell Payne, 37, of the 100 block of Robicheaux Lane in Verdunville, at 9:05 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of Legend Drug Flexeril, possession of Schedule II Lortab and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Deshineda Conneor, 28, of the 1500 block of North Third Street in Morgan City, at 9:05 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of distribution of Legend Drug Flexeril.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics detectives conducted a traffic stop on La. 182 in Morgan City. They made contact with two passengers inside the vehicle identified as Toussaint and Payne. Detectives located active warrants for Toussaint.
While speaking with Payne, detectives found that he was in possession of several Flexeril and Lortab pills, Hebert said. During the traffic stop investigation, Conneor came to the location.
Detectives made contact with her and learned that she had given Payne some of the pills, Hebert said. All three suspects were jailed No bail is set for Payne and Conneor. Bail for Toussaint is set at $7,019.08.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
