Baldwin Fire Station official opening

Local and state officials, firefighters, area fire chiefs, friends and family turned out to help Baldwin Mayor Donna Lancelin and Baldwin Fire Chief Gene St. Germain cut the ribbon for the new Baldwin Fire Station on Tuesday. Along with several other guests, Rep. Sam Jones addressed attendees and said that acquiring the initial $1 million for the new facility, located in the old Baldwin Elementary building on Main Street, was his first project as state representative in 2008. Sen. Bret Allain, also present for the event, later obtained an additional $150,000 for the project. The town has plans in the works for a future substation to be built at a later date. Also present for the event were former Fire Chief Aubrey Boudreaux and former firefighter Jo Jo Hebert.
