Girl accused of striking woman with metal pole

A female juvenile was arrested Thursday for hitting a woman with a metal pole during an argument, said St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert in a news release.
—A female juvenile, 16, was arrested at 9:41 p.m. Thursday in Amelia on the charges of domestic abuse battery and aggravated assault. A deputy responded to a report of a disturbance in Amelia and made contact with two female subjects, one of whom was a juvenile.
While speaking with the two subjects, the deputy learned that they were arguing when the juvenile picked up a metal pole and struck the other subject in the arm. Following the investigation, the juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
Hebert reported responding to 31 complaints and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Brian Johnson, 53, of the 100 block of Bailey’s Lane in Amelia, at 6:44 p.m. Thursday on the charge of domestic abuse battery. A deputy responded to a disturbance at residence on Bailey’s Lane.
During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that Johnson kicked a female victim while arguing, causing her to fall. Johnson was jailed with no bail set.
—Lionel Granger III, 50, of the 1000 block of Grace Street in Morgan City, at 5:44 p.m. Thursday on the charges of maximum speed limit, reckless operation of a vehicle, driving under suspension, possession of open alcoholic beverages in motor vehicle, possession of Schedule I (marijuana) second offense, and resisting an officer (refusing to give information).
A deputy responding to a report of a reckless driver on U.S. 90 in the Franklin area observed a vehicle traveling 96 miles per hour in a posted 70 mile per hour zone. The deputy also observed the vehicle swerving onto the shoulder of the roadway.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Granger. Granger refused to provide a driver’s license or information and began cursing at the deputy. The deputy learned that Granger’s license was suspended.
During the course of the investigation, the deputy observed an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle. A small amount of marijuana was also located. Granger was jailed and no bail set.
—Zacolby Granger, 23, of the 1000 block of Grace Street in Siracusaville, at 9:02 p.m. Thursday for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Narcotics detectives conducted a search warrant at the address listed above and located marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia. During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that the items belonged to Granger. Detectives released Granger on a summons to appear in court on Nov. 17.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the following arrests:
—Shane Suire, 19, of Susan Court in Morgan City, at 11:21 a.m. Thursday on the charges of failure to provide insurance, illegal carrying of a weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia, altered license plate, possession of Schedule I narcotics (heroin), and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
Officers were notified of an unresponsive male in a vehicle in the area of Anderson and Iberia streets. Officers observed a firearm in plain view on the passenger seat. Officers also observed narcotics and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Suire was processed and transported to St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Cory D. Sims, 37, of Lake Charles, at 3:06 p.m. Thursday on the charge of failure to appear (six counts).
Sims was placed under arrest in the City Court of Morgan City for outstanding warrants he held for the Sixth Ward City Court. Sims was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and he was jailed.
—Wade N. White, 22, of Oil Tank Ally in Morgan City, at 3:54 p.m. Thursday on the charge of failure to appear (three counts). White was placed under arrest in the City Court of Morgan City for outstanding warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court.
White was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and he was jailed.
—Melanie Rink, 41, of Sixth Street in Morgan City, at 6:17 p.m. Thursday on the charge of unauthorized use of an access card. Rink was already incarcerated at the Morgan City Jail Facility and was booked on an active warrant for the Morgan City Police Department.
The warrant stems from a complaint on Aug. 7, which alleges Rink made unauthorized transactions on a debit card totaling $1,500. Rink remains jailed.
—Roberto Solis, 55, of Shaw Drive in Morgan City, at 1:27 a.m. Friday on the charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, no driver’s license, careless operation, switched license plates, no insurance, resisting an officer by false information, and warrant-failure to appear (St. Mary Sheriff’s Office)
A patrol officer observed a vehicle in the parking lot of a business on La. 182 with its headlights on and the vehicle appeared to have been damaged. As the officer approached, the driver, Solis, appeared to be intoxicated.
The officer could also smell an odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath. Solis was asked to perform the standardized field sobriety test, in which he performed poorly. Solis was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department.
Once at the police department, Solis was asked to submit to the chemical test for intoxication. Solis test revealed a .172g percent blood alcohol content. Solis was then charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Solis had also given officers a false name prior to arrest.
A warrant check determined that Solis held active warrant for the 16th Judicial District Court. He was booked and jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Michael Blankenship, 59, of Fourth Street in Berwick, on the charge of disturbing the peace (intoxicated). He was jailed and bail set at $295.
