St. Jude's fall horseshoe tourney held Aug. 29

The Bayou Horseshoe Pitchers Association held its St. Jude’s Fall Horseshoe Tournament fundraiser Aug. 29 at Kemper Williams Park near Patterson.
From the event, the Bayou Horseshoe Pitchers will donate $900 to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
Below are the results:
Class A: first place, Pat Pertuit of Marrero, 4½-1½, 53.3; second place, Dudley Michel of Bayou Vista, 3½-2½, 52.9; third place, Tim Gilmore of Bayou Vista, 3-2, 60.5
After being tied up in regulation, Pertuit defeated Michel in a 40-shoe playoff game claiming class title and tournament championship.
Class B: first, Burnie Williams of Morgan City, 5-0, 28.8; second, Jimmy Percle of Morgan City, 3½-1½, 31.2; third, A.J. Duplantier of Harahan, 3-2, 26.2
Class C: first, Eddie Guidry of Port Allen, 5-1, 27.9; second, Cheryl Matt of Lake Charles, 4-2, 17.9; third, Mack Thibodeaux of Lake Arthur, 3-2, 28.0
Guidry defeated Matt in a 40-shoe playoff after being tied at regulation, give him the class title.
Class D: first, Mike Fonseca of Harahan, 5-1, 9.0; second, Ivory Hilliard of Patterson, 5-2, 16.2; third, Julius Lovell of Bayou L’Ourse, 4-2, 16.5
Fonseca, Hilliard and Lovell were knotted up after regulation, forcing a three- way playoff. Hilliard defeated Lovell in a 40-shoe game, and then Fonseca after drawing the bye defeated Hilliard in a 40-shoe game giving him the class title.
