Franklin Harvest Moon Festival Pageant seeks contestants
The Franklin Harvest Moon Festival Queen’s pageant will be held Sat., Oct. 3 at the Teche Theatre for the Performing Arts.
The pageant is currently seeking participants in Miss, Teen and Lil’ Miss categories.
Those interested in competing in the Miss category should be 17-22 years of age, those interested in competing in the Teen category should be 13-16 years of age and those interested in the Lil’ Miss category should be 10-12 years of age. All interested participants should complete the form below and submit it with the $25 entry fee by Sat., Sept. 19 to Susan Kerry, P.O. Box 250, Centerville, La., 70522.
Miss and Teen contestants will compete in:
- Interview: Business attire or dress
- Casual Wear: Fall fashion unlimited
- Evening Wear: A long formal dress and a custom mask
Lil’ Miss contestants will compete in:
- Interview: Sunday’s best dress
- Casual Wear: Fall fashion unlimited
- Party Wear: Party dress and a custom mask
All contestants will recite an on-stage introduction, approximately 60 minutes, about the Harvest Moon Festival and ending with their name. They will also wear/carry a custom mask, on a stick, for the Moonlight Masquerade (Evening Gown/Party Dress) portion of the competition. For the Interview portion, contestants will be expected to learn about St. Mary Parish, Franklin’s Historic District and the Harvest Moon Festival and answer questions on these subjects during the interview.
Winners will receive awards for Interview, Fashion, Most Photogenic, Top Model, Miss Congeniality and Royal Court.
The Miss Queen winner will receive an educational scholarship, a trophy, a monogrammed banner, flowers, a festival T-shirt, a crown and a pin.
The Teen Queen winner will receive a scholarship, a trophy, flowers, a monogrammed banner, a crown, a festival T-shirt and a pin.
The Lil’ Miss winner will receive flowers, a trophy, a festival T-shirt, a monogrammed banner, a crown and a pin.
Members of the Royal Court will receive medallions.
