Morgan City Council will see budget for new fiscal year

Morgan City officials will present the city’s proposed 2016 budget at tonight’s council meeting.
The Morgan City City Council will meet at 6 p.m. today at the City Court Building.
The agenda includes amending and re-adopting a parking ordinance that would include boats and campers on the list of vehicles that can’t be parked on city streets.
The city council will also be able to amend the city’s solid waste ordinance to define curbside pickup as any approved items placed on the curbside outside of normal garbage can service and to change language to identify a contractor as the city’s garbage collector instead of the city itself.
Resolutions that will come before the council include ones for a Municipal Water Pollution Prevention Report, to provide for administrative and engineering services relating to the 2016-17 Louisiana Community Block Development Program and to authorize a signature for the city to enter into a cooperative endeavor agreement with the state regarding city water plant improvements.
The council will be able to approve another resolution to change the dates of the November and December meeting dates.
Guests on the agenda include Beverly Domengeaux with the St. Mary Council on Aging annual report, Tri City Track Club for the Double Trouble Bridge Run, Jennifer Edwards to request a street closure for “Jeepers for the Creatures,” Kenny Duval for a Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll drive and a Red Ribbon Week resolution, Deputy Jennifer McDill for “Run with the Fuzz,” St. Mary Parish Council candidate Reginald Weary, and Parish President candidate Gary Duhon.
