Jeanerette museum showing ‘Louisiana Story’ retrospect

The Jeanerette Museum will host the film viewing of Louisiana Story and a special presentation by Tika Laudun, senior producer of Louisiana Public Broadcasting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7.
Ms. Laudun will speak about the process of creating the film and the people behind it during the museum’s celebration of the Grand Reveil Acadien.
Tika Laudun is responsible for the development of LPB’s documentary and educational productions. As a filmmaker, Laudun specializes in stories that tell the history and culture of her Louisiana native homeland.
She is the senior producer and director for LPB’s Louisiana: A History series and companion book Louisiana An Illustrated History. The Louisiana History series has been awarded many national honors including the duPont Columbia Award for Excellence in Broadcast Journalism (television’s equivalent to the Pulitzer Prize); The National Educational Telecommunications Association Award of Excellence for Historical Documentary Series; a Sun Coast Regional Emmy Award; six National Telly Awards; and International CINE and New York Film Festival awards.
Laudun directed and co-produced Kate Chopin: A Re-Awakening, a documentary on the life and work of the nineteen century author Kate Chopin which aired on PBS nationally.
She is also producer/director of LPB’s documentary Frame After Frame: The Images of Herman Leonard. Additional nationally aired LPB programs directed, co-produced and photographed by Laudun, The Forest Where We Live and Return to the Forest Where We Live were awarded the National Arbor Day Foundation’s Media Awards of Excellence.
The Louisiana Endowment for The Humanities honored Laudun’s production Louisiana Story: The Reverse Angle as Humanities Documentary of the Year.
The film viewing of Louisiana Story and talk by Laudun is a free program suitable for an adult audience.
