Police: Men caught with pills after stop

Two Patterson men were caught with pills and arrested after officers observed a vehicle swerving on U.S. 90 in Morgan City, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Jonathan K. Perry, 31, of N Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:17 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of improper lane usage, possession of Schedule IV Alprazolam, violation of controlled dangerous substance law and driving under suspension.
—Steven Butler, 30, of Tall Timbers in Patterson, was arrested at 9:17 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of Schedule I MDMA and violation of controlled dangerous substance law.
The Morgan City Police Narcotics Division along with the St. Mary Parish Narcotics Division conducted a traffic stop on U.S. 90 near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Morgan City of a vehicle observed to be swerving in the roadway. The driver, Perry, had a suspended driver’s license. The passenger, Butler, was asked to exit the vehicle.
Officers received consent to search the vehicle and located inside the vehicle were pills identified as MDMA and Alprazolam. Both Perry and Butler were jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Caffery J. Williams, 49, of Garber Street in Morgan City, at 11:40 a.m. Wednesday on the charge of probation violation and on a warrant charging him with three counts of failure to pay fines.
Williams was located on Garber Street and was determined to have active warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court. Williams was jailed.
—Jose Victor, 29, of Houma, at 2:37 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of driver must be licensed and speeding 42 mph in a 15 mph zone.
A patrol officer in the area of Federal Avenue and Wise Street observed a vehicle speeding and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, Victor, did not have a valid driver’s license, Blair said. Victor was jailed.
—Patrick Augman, 41, of Como Street in Patterson, at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging him with theft under $750.
Augman was transported from the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center to the Morgan City Police Department for an active warrant he held. Augman was jailed.
—Wyatt D. Brown, 27, of Garber Street in Morgan City, at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of no turn signal and possession of marijuana.
A patrol officer in the area of Garber Street and Levee Road observed a vehicle fail to use a turn signal, while turning on to Levee Road and conducted a traffic stop.
The driver, Brown, had suspected marijuana in his possession. Brown was jailed.
—Darrell A. Orgeron, 45, of Second Street in Berwick, at 8:10 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of driving under suspension and no turn signal.
A patrol officer in the area of Federal Avenue and Wise Street observed a vehicle fail to use a turn signal, while turning on to Wise Street and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, Orgeron, had a suspended driver’s license. Orgeron was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 43 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Chelsie Lacoste, 19, of the 100 block of Beau Lane in Bayou Vista, at 6:24 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of marijuana, possession of Schedule IV Xanax and possession of drug paraphernalia. Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Narcotics Division patrolling Bayou Vista stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Beau Lane off Pluto Street.
While speaking with the occupants, detectives smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, Hebert said. Through further investigation, detectives found marijuana, five Xanax pills, and items of drug paraphernalia in Lacoste’s purse and on her. Lacoste was jailed with no bail set.
—Patrick Augman, 41, of the 300 block of Como Street in Patterson, at 10:10 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for theft of goods and on a Morgan City warrant on the charge of theft. The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for theft of goods is the result of an investigation into a complaint of shoplifting at a store located on U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista.
The deputy learned that Augman entered the store, took several items and then left without paying for the goods. Augman turned himself in at the branch office in Morgan City after learning about the warrant for his arrest. No bail is set.
—Eric Driskill, 40, of the 1400 block of Westover Drive in Jeanerette, at 7:06 p.m. Wednesday on a Morgan City Court warrant for failure to appear on the charge of expired driver’s license. Narcotics detectives conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle on La. 182 in Patterson made contact with Driskill, who was a passenger. Detectives found that Driskill had an active warrant for his arrest from Morgan City. Driskill was transported to the parish jail for booking and later transferred to the Morgan City jail.
—Mia Blair, 18, of the 300 block of South Bay Road in Pierre Part, at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear for a drug court status conference. Blair turned herself on the warrant at the Berwick Police Department. A deputy transported her to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $100,000.
—Nikolay Zozulya, 57, of the 1300 block of Shillington Drive in Katy, Texas, at 11:21 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of reckless operation of a vehicle. A deputy responded to a vehicle crash on U.S. 90 in Ricohoc and made contact with the driver of the vehicle identified as Zozulya.
During the investigation, the deputy learned that Zozulya fell asleep at the wheel of the pick-up truck and ran off the roadway into the median. Zozulya was booked and later released on a summons to appear in court Jan. 13.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Darius Grogan, 21, of the 200 block of Hurst Street in Patterson at 4:39 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of simple battery involving domestic violence and simple criminal damage to property. Grogan was jailed with no bail set.
—Joseph Jessie, 36, of the 100 block of Bernard Street in Patterson, at 5:48 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of resisting an officer for failure to comply, resisting an officer by flight and theft less than $500. No bail is set.
—Patrick Augman, 41, of the 1300 block of Ninth Street in Patterson, at 1:43 a.m. today on a warrant charging him with theft by shoplifting. Augman was jailed on $1,000 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
