BEARS members as well as ham radio operators from Breaux Bridge and Lafayette assisted with checkpoint stations in three locations from Franklin to Berwick during the Tour du Teche boat race earlier this month. Pictured at the checkpoint located across the river from the Berwick Locks, where the participants enter the Atchafalaya River, are Frank Price (N5LOD), Deborah Price (N5FMI) and Jackie Price (KA5LMZ). Not pictured are Rudy Duchan (WA5QNH), lead operator in Berwick at the finish line; Nick Pugh (K5QXJ), who worked the Calumet Cut; and Larry Leblanc (KE5KJD) and Sandy Leblanc (KE5KFJ), who served as ham liaisons for the Franklin-to-Berwick leg of the race. This marks the third year that BEARS has assisted in this event.
