Six people injured in Morgan City school bus crash

Five young people received minor injuries and a St. Mary Parish bus driver was also injured this morning when their bus was hit by a vehicle that was involved in another collision, Morgan City police said.

The bus was on La. 182 at Halsey at 6:47 a.m., when two other vehicles collided, police said. One of the vehicles in the collision then hit the bus with what police called a sideswiping blow.

Police said 19 people were on the bus, headed for Morgan City Junior High.

The injured were taken to Teche Regional Medical Center.

The driver in one of the other vehicles involved in the crash was cited, police said. Police haven't released the names of the students involved or the drivers.
