Lady Wolfpack win District 6-2A Title
BALDWIN _ Jakyrin Connor scored 12 points, lifting the West St. Mary Lady Wolfpack to a 49-33 victory over the Loreauville Lady Tigers and the 2016 District 6-2A Championship here Friday at the West St. Mary High School Gymnasium.
Heading into Friday’s contest the West St. Mary Lady Wolfpack had already clinched no worse than a tie for the district title after pinning a 57-38 loss on the Delcambre Lady Panthers last week. West St. Mary posted the 49-33 win over Loreauville to earned the outright District 6-2A title with a 7-1 overall record.
The West St. Mary Lady Wolfpack outpointed Loreauville over the final three quarters en route to the 49-33 triumph. West St. Mary quickly overcame a 9-8 first quarter deficit, going on a 13-5 run in the second quarter for a 21-14 halftime cushion. In the third quarter, the Lady Wolfpack used a 16-10 flurry for a 37-24 advantage. West St. Mary captured the District 6-2A title with a 12-11 fourth quarter run with the 49-33 victory.
Connor led the Lady Wolfpack with 12 points while Treniece Butler tallied eight points. NaiShaylin Smith and Chyna Druilhet scored 7 points apiece. Myria Druilhet fired in six points while Jakaia Tillman had five and Tajah Lofton finished with four.
The West St. Mary Lady Wolfpack captured the District 6-2A Title and will enter the State playoffs later this week.

WSM rolls over LHS
BALDWIN _ The West St. Mary Wolfpack grabbed the District 6-2A lead after earning a 59-26 triumph over the Loreauville Tigers here Friday at the West St. Mary High School Gym.
West St. Mary moved to 5-2 in District 6-2A after claiming the 59-26 victory over Loreauville. The Wolfpack (11-10 overall, 5-2 in District 6-2A) owns a one-half game lead over second place Jeanerette and Catholic High who are currently 4-2 in league play.
West St. Mary used a balanced scoring attack to easily turn back Loreauville on Friday.
Twan Polidore led West St. Mary with 12 points while Christian Berard and Scottie Gray finished with nine points each. Cameron Blake and Duante Charles poured in seven points apiece while Jason Pierre had five points with Seanathon Sparrow and Dondre Johnson tallying three points each with Carey Jackson and Tyree Rouchon tossing in two points each.
WSM will host Jeanerette on Thursday in league play.

Knights down Bulldogs
CENTERVILLE _ The Lafayette Christian Knights posted a 99-54 victory over the Centerville Bulldogs here Friday in District 7-1A action at the CHS Gym.
Centerville dropped to 10-10 and 7-5 in 7-1A.
Lafayette Christian is 26-3 overall and 12-0 in 7-1A.
Centerville boys will travel to VC on Tuesday at 6 pm one game.
Lafayette Christian jumped out to a 27-11 first quarter lead over Centerville and never looked back in the 99-54 victory.
Leading scorers for Lafayette Christian were: Kalob LeDoux, 22; Galen Alexander, 21; Jacob LeDoux, 13; Greg Williams, 12; Caleb Starks, 9 and Mike Harden, Jr, 8.
Marvin Strawder led Centerville with 19 points while Marquis Strawder poured in 10 points. Jaqualon Bourgeois tallied 9 with Jayvien Thomas tossing in 6 while Karl Young and Desmond Monette had 3 each while Cole Candella and Ryan Young scored 2 each.

FSHS Lady Hornets defeat Lady Pirates
The Franklin Lady Hornets defeated the Kaplan Lady Pirates 40-29 in District 8-3A action Friday at the FSHS Gym.
Leading scorers for Franklin were: Quanta Jones, 23 points on 7 FGs, 1 3-pointer, and 6 of 10 FTs; Chardonnae Parker, 8 points on 3 FG and 2 of 4 FTs; Samantha Frederick, 6 points on 3 FGs; Jazmine Byers, 2 points and Kaira Butler, 1 point.
Coaches Verret and Jackson would like to thank all the fans, families, and supporters who came out to support the Lady Hornets this season.

LCA wins over Lady Bulldogs
CENTERVILLE _ Lafayette Christian Lady Knights notched a 54-38 District 7-1A win over the Centerville Lady Bulldogs here Friday at the CHS Gym in the regular season finale.
Alyrria Austin poured in 15 points while Rylie Candella tallied 10 points for the Centerville Lady Bulldogs.
