Hanson Lady Tigers sweep LCA

Hanson Memorial’s Lady Tigers posted a double-header District 7-1A sweep of the Lafayette Christian Lady Knights Saturday at the Hanson Memorial Softball Complex.
In the first game, Baylee Young was the winning pitcher as the Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers edged Lafayette Christian by a 6-5 margin.
Young pitched 6.1 innings, facing 36 batters while giving up five runs on six hits with nine strikeouts and five walks.
Ashley Meyerholtz worked the final two-thirds of an inning, facing two batters not giving up a run nor a hit.
Baylee Young helped her own cause by going 2 for 3 with a single and a 2-run homer with 3 RBIs on the day. Paige Diamond also went 1 for 3 with a single, walk and 2 runs.
In the second game, Ashley Meyerholtz hurled the Hanson Lady Tigers to a 14-2 victory over the Lafayette Christian Academy Lady Knights.
Meyerholtz recorded the victory after working five innings, giving up two runs on five hits with one strikeout and one walk.
Allyssa Young, Sarah Sonnier and Baylee Young all slugged home runs for the Hanson Lady Tigers.

The No. 3-ranked Hanson Lady Tigers remained atop the District 7-1A standings with a 10-1 overall record following the double-header sweep.
Hanson (17-5, 10-1) will travel to play Gueydan on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
