Police: Two armed robberies net $21

A 25-year-old Morgan City man was accused of commit-ting two separate armed robberies Tuesday stealing $21 from the victims, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
Jermoud Watts, 25, of Kentucky Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:05 a.m. Tuesday on the charges of two counts of armed robbery, two counts of armed robbery with a firearm, home invasion, aggravated kidnapping and possession of synthetic marijuana.
Officers responded to a Morgan City convenience store on La. 182 in regards to an individual stating he was robbed. The victim stated that he was sleeping in his home on La. 182. He awoke at about 5 a.m. Tuesday with a man standing over him with a handgun demanding money.
When the victim could not produce any cash, the suspect ordered the victim at gunpoint to his vehicle. The suspect demanded that they travel to an ATM to get cash. The victim drove to the convenience store in his vehicle with the suspect. The victim then exited the vehicle fleeing from the suspect.
About an hour later, officers responded to another complaint of an armed robbery in the area of Sixth Street and Brashear Avenue. Officers spoke to the victim and were told that the suspect demanded money from him at gunpoint. The victim complied with the suspect, and the suspect then fled the area.
The description of the suspect was similar to the one in the first incident. Officers searched the area for the suspect and located an individual fitting the description entering a home on Maine Street.
Officers received consent to search the home and located Watts hiding in one of the bathrooms. Officers also located suspected synthetic marijuana on Watts. Watts allegedly took $4 from the first victim and $17 from the second victim.
Watts was booked into city jail with no bail set.
