Patterson man charged with rape of juvenile

A 22-year-old Patterson man was charged Friday with raping a teenage boy, Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle said in a news release.
—Darius Grogan, 22, of the 200 block of Hurst Street in Patterson, was arrested at 5:10 p.m. Friday on the charges of forcible rape, indecent behavior involving a juvenile and oral sexual battery. No bail is set. The victim in the case is 14 years old, police said.
LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Andrew Hebert, 24, of the 900 block of Ninth Street in Patterson, at 7:24 a.m. Saturday on the charges of resisting an officer by flight and on two warrants charging him with resisting an officer and disturbing the peace. Hebert was jailed on $361 bail.
—Sylton Francis, 58, of the 100 block of Freeman Street in Patterson, at 6:33 p.m. Saturday on the charges of remaining where forbidden and disturbing the peace. Francis was jailed on $544 bail.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Decator J. Crochet Jr., 18, of Laurel Street in Morgan City, at 10:30 a.m. Friday on the charge of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile.
Officers located Crochet at a home on Laurel Street. The warrant stems from the investigation into an incident reported March 27. Crochet is alleged to have had sexual contact with a 13-year-old girl. Crochet was booked into jail, and the incident remains under investigation.
—Gersson S. Viniegra, 31, of Catherine Street in Patterson, at 10:30 a.m. Friday on the charge of probation violation. Viniegra was arrested in the 6th Ward Morgan City Court on an active warrant and jailed.
—Heather D. LaCoste, 32, of Marshall Street in Morgan City, at 3:11 p.m. Friday on the charge of resisting an officer and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of DWI.
Officers located LaCoste at a home on Marshall Street where she was arrested on an active warrant for the 16th Judicial District Court. During the arrest, LaCoste gave officer a false name to avoid the arrest. LaCoste was jailed.
—Rachel L. King, 32, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, at 6:16 p.m. Friday on a warrant charging her with probation violation.
King was transported from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Jail to the Morgan City Police Department in regards to an active warrant for the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. King was jailed.
—Timothy S. Crum, 37, of La. 182 in Morgan City, at 9:24 p.m. Friday on the charges of driving under suspension, possession of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle and improper lane usage.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle traveling out of its lane of travel on La. 182 near Pecos Street and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, Crum, had a suspended driver’s license. Officers also observed an open container of alcoholic beverage inside the vehicle. Crum was jailed.
—Tyrone F. Thomas, 51, of Sixth Street in Morgan City, at 2:01 a.m. Saturday on the charge of improper lane usage and on a warrant charging him with theft of goods.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle traveling out of its lane of travel on Ditch Avenue and made a traffic stop. The driver, Thomas, had an active warrant in connection with an alleged theft reported March 8 at a local convenience store on La. 182. Thomas was jailed.
—Omar Ramos, 38, of Shaw Drive in Morgan City, at 2:51 a.m. Saturday on the charge of domestic abuse battery.
Officers responded to an address on Shaw Drive in regards to a report of a disturbance. When the officers arrived, Ramos, along with a woman who had signs of a battery, were located in the street.
Investigators discovered that Ramos allegedly committed a battery on the woman during an argument. Ramos was jailed.
—Dietra R. James, 39, of Louisiana Street in Morgan City, at 3 p.m. Sunday on the charge of resisting an officer and warrants charging her with domestic abuse battery and probation violation.
Officers located James at a home on Louisiana Street where she was arrested on warrants. During the arrest, James failed in an attempt to exit the home to get away from officers. James was jailed.
—Brandy L. Armond, 36, of Tournament Boulevard in Berwick, at 8:34 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
An officer located Armond in the area of Fifth Street near Greenwood Street where she was arrested on a warrant for the 16th Judicial District Court. Armond was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 101 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Rachel King, 32, of the 500 block of Fifth Street in Morgan City, at 7:25 a.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of alprazolam, disturbing the peace by appearing in an intoxicated condition, resisting an officer, and remaining where forbidden.
While responding to a complaint of a suspicious person, a deputy made contact with King and located the active warrant for her arrest. No bail is set.
—Anthony Beard, 39, of the 1500 block of Cross Road in Bayou Vista, at 5:05 p.m. Friday on the charges of disturbing the peace intoxicated, offensive language and simple assault.
A deputy responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in Bayou Vista. The deputy made contact with Beard and smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage in his breath and person. The deputy also observed other indicators of intoxication.
During the subsequent investigation, the deputy found evidence that Beard charged towards a woman. As the deputy spoke with Beard outside the residence, he began yelling and cursing causing a disturbance in the neighborhood. Beard was jailed with bail set at $1,000.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
