Teen charged with Berwick car burglaries

A Morgan City teen was booked into Berwick jail Thursday after video surveillance showed him committing six vehicle burglaries and attempting two other burglaries in the Country Club Estates area in Berwick, Police Chief James Richard said.
—Christopher Percle, 17, of the 1200 block of Clements Lane in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:54 p.m. Thursday on the charges of six counts of simple burglary, two counts of attempted simple burglary and on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant charging him with illegal possession of stolen things. No bail is set.
On Wednesday night, Ber-wick police started receiving complaints of vehicle burglaries in the Country Club Estates area. Video evidence showed Percle was one of the suspects involved in the burglaries, Richard said.
All vehicles reported to have been burglarized were left unlocked. One of the stolen items was recovered. Police are still investigating the burglaries, and more arrests are likely, Richard said.
Richard reported the fol-lowing arrest:
—Larry Washington Jr., 38, of the 3000 block of Sixth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 6:39 p.m. Thursday on the charges of disturbing the peace, resisting an officer by giving false information, resisting an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail is set at $3,750 bail.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 37 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Fanchon C. Toups, 27, of the 800 block of Lillian Lane in Amelia, was arrested at 9:50 a.m. Thursday on a warrant charging her with telephone harassment.
A deputy received a com-plaint June 6 and collected information that Toups repeatedly attempted to contact a person via telephone. The deputy made contact with Toups and advised her to stop. On June 13, a detective received a second complaint of telephone harassment.
The detective found evidence that Toups masked her phone number, commonly referred to as spoofing, in order to attempt to reach the person despite being previously told to cease contact, Hebert said. The detective obtained a warrant for her arrest.
While responding to a separate complaint, a deputy made contact with Toups and took her into custody on the warrant. Toups was jailed with no bail set.
—Jeremiah Garces, 24, of the 1600 block of Cross Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:50 p.m. Thursday on the charge of driving under suspension.
A deputy responded to a suspicious person complaint in the parking lot of a business on U.S. 90 in the Jeanerette area. The deputy located the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as Garces. While speaking with Garces, the deputy discovered that he was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. Garces was released on a summons to appear in court Sept. 15.
—Renee Watts, 39, of the 100 block of Mill Road in Patterson, was arrested at 3:48 p.m. Thursday on a warrant on the charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Narcotics detectives executed a search warrant at Watts’ home and located a bag of marijuana and several drug paraphernalia items, Hebert said.
Watts was not at the location at the time of the search and a warrant was obtained for her arrest. Detectives later made contact with Watts at her home and took her into custody on the warrant. Watts was released on a summons to appear in court Sept. 15.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Brent Rock, 26, of Allison Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:07 a.m. today on the charges of domestic abuse battery and domestic abuse child-endangerment.
—Dalisha Duke, 22, of Allison Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:07 a.m. today on the charges of domestic abuse battery and domestic abuse child-endangerment.
Officers responded to an address on Allison Street in regard to a reported domestic disturbance. The officers arrived and located two people inside the home, and identified Rock and Duke, both showing signs of a battery.
During an investigation, the officers learned that Rock and Duke were involved in an argument at which time they were both alleged to have committed a battery on one another. The incident took place while in the presence of a 2-year-old child. Both Rock and Duke were jailed.
—Carmen L. Orgeron, 39, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:45 a.m. today on a warrant charging her with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Officers located Orgeron at a home on Railroad Avenue where Orgeron was arrested on a warrant, stemming from an incident reported May 31 of an alleged unauthorized use of a vehicle. Orgeron was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
