Public’s help sought in Berwick shooting

All four victims of a June 17 shooting in Berwick have been released from hospitals, but police have not yet identified any possible suspects, Berwick Police Chief James Richard said.
Police are asking for the public’s assistance in the investigation. Anyone with any information on the shooting should contact the Berwick Police Department at 985-384-7710.
About 10:45 p.m. June 17, Berwick police received a call from the area of Sixth and Utah streets by Prince Hall Lodge, located in the 3100 block of Sixth Street, where a party was going on.
A total of three women and one man sustained serious injuries after they were each shot once. Three of the victims were released from hospitals the weekend of the shooting. The fourth victim was released Saturday from Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City.
Police learned there was an altercation inside the lodge and it continued outside the lodge, where the shooting occurred. Investigators don’t know what caused the altercation to occur.
At least 30 rounds were fired during the incident from what appears to have been some type of 9 mm semi-automatic weapon, and multiple weapons may have been fired, Richard said.
