Person of interest sought in Morgan City shooting

Morgan City police are seeking the public’s help to find a person of interest in a Tuesday night shooting in Brownell Homes that left a 27-year-old man with serious injuries, Police Chief James Blair said.
Police received a call at 8:41 p.m. Tuesday from Teche Regional Medical Center reporting a 27-year-old man arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound.
The man was stabilized and immediately flown to a New Orleans area hospital. As of 8 a.m. today he was listed in critical condition with a potentially life-threatening injury, Blair said. The shooting is believed to have occurred in the Brownell Homes area, Blair said.
Investigators are looking for a person of interest who may have information regarding the shooting, Blair said.
The person of interest, Joey Jermaine Francois, 36, has a last known address in the 100 block of Mallard Street in Morgan City. He is 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds.
Police haven’t discovered any possible motive yet for the shooting, Blair said.
