Police: Man possessed stolen carburetor

A 40-year-old Morgan City man was booked into jail Wednesday after he was found in possession of a stolen vehicle carburetor, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Thomas Steely Jr., 40, of Front Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:51 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging him with illegal possession of stolen property.
Officers located Steely at an address on La. 182 where he was arrested on a warrant held by the Morgan City Police Department. The warrant stems from an investigation into an incident where Steely was found to be in possession of stolen property, Blair said. Steely was jailed.
Blair reported the following arrest:
—Raymond P. Johnson, 42, of Shrimpers Row in Houma, was arrested at 3:48 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle traveling on La. 182 near Cottonwood Street with what appeared to be painted lenses which prevented the tail lights from illuminating. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver issued a citation for the traffic offense.
During the traffic investigation, a passenger inside the vehicle was observed discarding an object from the vehicle. The officer identified the passenger as Johnson, who at first gave the officer a false name, Blair said.
Johnson’s behavior made officers suspicious that he may be involved in illegal drug activity. The officer searched Johnson and located suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia on him, Blair said. Johnson was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—John Henry, 43, of Texas Street in Berwick, was arrested at 12:54 a.m. today on the charge of domestic abuse battery. No bail is set.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 43 complaints in the parish and reported no arrests in east St. Mary Parish.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
